At the end of January (Jan. 30 to be exact), Anna's friend Avery came over to play and I wrote this post while she was here. I guess I forgot to publish it though.
Their imaginary play is cracking me up. They all (Evie too) dressed up as princesses, then after the last dress was on they said, "hands in" for a "go Princesses" cheer or something like that. Evie didn't understand. She tried to hold Avery's hand, but they explained that she should put her hand on top of theirs. Then after their cheer, they were off to the ball.
Only a few minutes later Anna asked me to help Avery put on a different dress and then she told me they were off to rescue Avery's daddy. When I asked what happened to him, Anna explained, "bad guys put him in jail and he's dead." That seemed like a tough rescue to me, but Avery explained that Jesus was going to help him and "make him live." Then there was another hands in with the cheer, "rescue him!" All of this was after they had spent some time playing house too.
I'm just glad they are playing so well together. There was a time when those two couldn't be in the same room together for more than five minutes before someone started hitting and the other one started crying.
This morning Anna told me she wanted to be Barbie when she grew up. I admit that at first I wasn't really listening, but then what she said sunk in. Anna loves Barbie movies about as much as I hate them, and when she said she wanted to be Barbie when she grew up, Barbie's physically impossible proportions were my first thought. But then I asked her what she meant and she explained that she wanted to be a dancer, which reminded me of when I was in first grade and I wanted to be a ballerina when I grew up too. My next thought was about eating disorders, but then we started discussing how much practice was involved and I think Anna lost interest in the conversation. So maybe she'll decide that being Barbie isn't as fun as she thought, especially if it takes lots of practice. Still, maybe I should put her back in a dance class.
